An ugly banana a day might just keep cancer away
Ever seen one of those really spotted bananas and gone ‘please, may I have the pretty, yellow, fresh ones instead?’ Yeah, me too! Ain’t nobody eating any ugly banana. But here’s why you might want to reconsider eating the spotted, ugly ones or bananas in general:
Bananas generally are high in potassium and magnesium which really help to prevent high blood pressure, stroke and heart disease. They also have antioxidant properties which ultimately help to prevent cell damage and keep us healthy! Are you still sitting down?

Now, let’s talk about the anti-cancer aspect of the spotted bananas.
A cancerous cell is one whose components are not dividing and therefore, are growing abnormally (Cells are supposed to constantly divide at some point). The white blood cells of our immune system produce a substance called Tumor Necrosis Factor (TNF) that literally goes around the body looking for abnormal cells to destroy. Research has shown that spotted (not rotten or completely brown) bananas help induce the production of this TNF in our bodies. Infact, the darker and more the spots, the more the anti-cancer properties. Are you at your banana vendor’s kiosk yet?
So, if they are too ugly for you, just make a smoothie out of them. Add some green leafy veggies like spinach, some avocadoes, some honey and any other healthy fruit that makes you happy and let’s make a toast to good health! *sips banana smoothie*
